Letter of Doom from Focus on the Family

Apparently the people over at Focus on the Family can now see into the future. A spiritual gift of prophecy perhaps? Or it is an attempt to swing voters who had their brains sucked out by giant aliens? The jury is still out on this one.

The good Christians over at FotF have written a fake letter sent from the year 2012 as Barack Obama has finished his first year as president. Read it here. Using their keen sense of style FotF has bulleted what will change in those four years. Here are some highlights I received from a Facebook friend of mine.

– The Supreme court leans liberal, 6 to 3.
– Terrorist attacks have occurred in 4 US cities.
– Christian doctors, nurses, counselors, and teachers have either been fired or quit.
– Iran perpetrated a nuclear attack on Israel, drastically reducing the size of its borders.
– Pornography is freely displayed.
– Inner city violent crime has dramatically increased due to gun control.
– Russia has occupied 4 additional countries.
– Gas tops $7 a gallon.
– Euthanasia becomes commonplace.
– Blackouts occur throughout the country.
– Homosexual marriage becomes law in all 50 states.
– Campus ministries, Christian adoption agencies and Christian schools nearly cease to exist.
– Home school families emigrate to Australia and New Zealand by the thousands.
– Bush officials are jailed and bankrupt.
– Taliban-like oppression overtakes Iraq and death of American sympathizers reaches millions.
– Homosexuals are given a bonus to enlist in the military.

Wow is all I had to say. As I read the letter further, these bullets don’t even do it justice. This letter moves from beyond silly to crazy and sad. I guess I don’t understand the utter fear that exists out there if Obama becomes president.

What I am most sad about is that this ‘Christian’ group reeks of nationalism and not Christianity. They want to limit gun control, encourage war, and encourage hate. Where is the love of Christ in that? Why are they so scared, isn’t Christ enough? If all hell breaks loss and if 100% of this comes true God’s love doesn’t change. God’s sacrifice doesn’t go away? God’s grace is not hinged on whether we say, ‘under God’ when we make a pledge to a flag.

Yes, there are some deep issues that Christians need to stand up too and fight for like abortion, capital punishment, violence, and war, but this is not the correct way to go about it. It makes all Christians (I say all because this group claims to be Christian and to all non-Christians it means the automatically speak for ALL Christians) look like idiots and mindless republican puppets.

Here is my letter from 2012: Things have changed since 2008 but some things haven’t. I still love God and God still loves me.

You can also go here to see an article from the Christianity Today and they have video supporting the letter.

  1. Point of information:you can’t “flee” to Australia or New Zealand — they only allow a certain number of immigrations per year and only for mostly young and single people.Like Dobson was really interested in reality….
